- Amelia Summers 2025With their roots in the rainy wild fells of Cumbria Georgie Rix aims to create a warm and welcoming space for all people to enjoy Folk music. With thoughtful music, Georgie believes that the best things are built from listening. Their music reflects this by being a joyful dialogue between people and the world.Georgie primarily plays and sings traditional and contemporary British Folk dance music specialising in Northern Fiddle. No two performances of theirs are the same with their extensive, ever expanding, aurally learnt repertoire and their love of improvisation. They also have a love for Folk music and dance from all cultures having performed and collaborated in Catalonia, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia and Germany.Georgie actively advocates Queer joy and belonging within the Folk scene and works to represent A-spec and Gender Non-Conforming people in music.They are Currently studying in Leeds at Leeds Conservatoire and have been inspired/ taught by Carolyn Francis, The Lakeland Fiddlers, Fredy Clue, Debby Howrie and Bryony Griffith.

Gigs and Workshops

Georgie plays the five-string violin and viola as well as singing and playing the mandolin. La'l Tethera, Georgie Rix, Ada Wood and Leo Rix (viola, fiddle and
accordion) combine broad, textural arrangements with close vocal harmony, to create a tight
and intentional sound, full of groove, grit and lilt. They bring a deep-rooted knowledge of
English folk to a globally inspired repertoire. Blowing you away with their unmistakable sound
yet making you feel like you’re around the kitchen table with them all at the same time. Their
close-knit friendship shines through their playing accentuating repertoire which both
remembers the past and looks to the future.

LISH - Duo

LISH is a Traditional Cumbrian folk fiddle duo which combines Carolyn Francis's expertise and wealth of traditional Cumbrian repertoire with her students (Georgie Rix) passion for the music and their up and coming talent. The duo sometimes performs with Toby Bennett who is the dancer at the centre of traditional Lakeland step and clog. Carolyn, Georgie and Toby Toured Catalonia in February 2023.

Ethnos France (2024), Denmark (2024), Switserland (2025),
Estonia (2025) and Germany (2025).

Ethnos are international events dedicated to intercultural music exchange and music making. A multicultural artistic residency results in the creation of an ephemeral orchestra, composed of musicians from all walks of life, brought together by a shared desire to play and share joy.
The gathering of young musicians from different cultures teach and share their music with each other with a great emphasis on community spirit. The performances which are created from this event are a meaningful shared experience for performers, local communities and audiences alike.
